The Flow

The Flow

It is pleasing when life flows, when things just fall into place with hardly, or even no, obstructions.

My daughter had found a town house she was interested in buying, as she wanted to move from her pokey apartment, which was now too small for her growing children.

She put in an offer before accepting their counter offer and the house was duly signed up.  There were two major hurdles, one was bank approval and the second was selling her apartment for the price she required to make the transaction.  She was over the moon when the bank approved her loan a few days later. There was a bit of a hiccup after the builder’s report. It appears the house was not that well-made and there was some question over whether the terrain was stable or if it was just bad craftmanship. However, an engineer reassured her that the land was in fact stable and the problems noted in the report were due to the builders. Having two builder brothers, Renee decided the problems would be fixable without too much effort.

Now the wait was on for the auction. I was back in New Zealand, waiting at a bus stop in Whangarei to see my friend off. At the correct time, I switched on my phone to the live auction, only to discover there were several houses waiting their fate. I watched the bids come in for another, which went to negotiation, before I received an excited text from Renee, $850,000. She had done it. That was the sum she had in her head that she needed to make for the house transaction to become a reality. She hadn’t attended the auction herself, rather, she had been flat out working at her salon. I don’t know why her house hadn’t shown up as live, perhaps there were more than one being auctioned at the same time.

Another bonus is her town house is currently empty, so she has permission to rent it while she waits for Council to complete its work before the title can go through. She will move from hers in about four weeks’ time. Exciting for her.

Things have fallen into place for my older son too. He came back from a few months in Australia, wanting to find a house he could buy and do up, something he enjoys and does well. He found the perfect one not too far

away and renovations have gone well for him.

My own experience of things falling into place happened when I attended my massage course in Hawkes Bay. One thing after another aligned, indicating to me that that was exactly what I was meant to be doing. I was accepted on the course only a few days before it started. On my first look, I found a place to stay on an organic orchard, and my trip to the Hawkes Bay flowed. I was pretty unwell at the time and was unsure whether I would even be able to manage the drive. When I arrived, I felt so at home, and that year became one of the best of my life. To add to the synchronicity, all the women with me on the course were ones I had shared a past life with. It was all meant to be. At the time, it was such a change of direction, but from a higher perspective, one I was meant to take.

Let’s hope both Renee and Michael’s paths are the ones they are meant to be taking too. This alignment for them both indicates that it is.

Postscript. Michael and Renee both moved into their houses. Renee loves hers while Michael renovated his and now rents it out.

And another example of life flowing, happened this past weekend.

Levi has been looking for a relocatable house for some time to put on his piece of land, while Michael has also been looking for one for his small rectangular, building site.

Levi’s wife Rosie had phoned up about a house a while ago, but decided it was too small for their family of five at the price that was being asked, about $68,000, I believe.

Then on Saturday, Levi saw that the price for the house Rosie had enquired about, had dropped to $20k. He rang and asked to view. The chap was busy at the time but said he’d be available later that afternoon.

When they received the call, Michael and Levi both went to view it, Michael ruing that it was exactly the design he had been after. Levi said he’d take it, as the $20k price tag was too good to ignore. On their way back to my house where they were staying, Levi received a call. “I have another house you can have for the same price,’’ he said.

The boys turned around and inspected the second house, with Levi deciding this would be a better match for him as it was bigger. Michael could have the first one. So, I had two very happy boys on their return. Don’t get me wrong, the houses were rough and would require an awful lot of work, but for that price, real bargains and an answer to both of their searches.
